Accessibility statement

Many of the families we serve live with disability. We want everyone to be able to use this site.

Our goal

We aim for nipbl.org to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That standard covers people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or captions, and people with cognitive or learning differences.

What we do

  • Use a clear heading structure on every page, so screen readers can move through it.
  • Add text descriptions to images and charts.
  • Keep text and buttons readable against their backgrounds.
  • Make links, buttons and forms work with a keyboard.
  • Respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting for scrolling text.
  • Write in plain language wherever we can.

Known limitations

  • The growth and milestone charts on our For Researchers page are graphics. Their key points are described in the text and figure captions; if you need the underlying data in another format, ask us.
  • Donations are handled on RareVillage, a separate site with its own accessibility practices.
  • Some older PDFs linked from our For Families page may not be fully accessible. We can send the content in another format.

Tell us about a problem

If something on the site doesn’t work for you, or you need information in a different format, email shivika@nipbl.org. Tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 business days.

Keeping this current

We review the site’s accessibility when we add new pages or features, and update this statement at least once a year.
